It's been a while

So, I mentioned in my last update –– all those yonks ago –– that I was planning to do a tidy up and rehash everything. To cut a long story short, I had a bit of a disaster as I found out to my cost that if you open two instances of Inky at the same time, there is a danger of overwriting a file. I didn’t lose everything, but I did lose all the improvements I had made –– which were a lot.

However, I recently played the game ‘Disco Elysium,’ which I went into totally blind, and enjoyed it immensely, which has inspired us to have another look at the Corridor.

This new version of the Corridor is the ‘salvage version.’ What I wanted to do was tidy everything up, with all the scenes in separate files, and archive everything else, so there would be no danger of repeating the deletion mistake.

A couple of casualties in the process: I have had to remove almost all the branching paths that were in the previous version (or being set up to be more accurate). This was because I wanted everything ‘clean’ to build from, and I need to refresh myself with how Ink works. On that note, there is a bug in ink, which I remember previously, where images push down options to continue. The fix is the following for anyone who has the same issue: https://github.com/inkle/ink/issues/674

So the story is pretty linear at the moment, and no doubt, a few things might not make sense, but I have added a lot more content; the changes are:

• Complete rewrite

• A bit of music added to the intro

• 4 New images added to the introduction sequence.

• 5 New pieces of rubbish to find.

• The number of images increased by 180%

• References to bottoms increased by 300%

Who knows, the next update might be a bit sooner than two years.
